ABOUT CONNIE

Connie started quilting in 2000 because her oldest son asked her to make
him a quilt.  She was at that time making African Wrap dolls from recycle bottles.  She stopped making the dolls and started taking quilting classes.

Although she doesn’t have a degree in art, but she loves drawing pictures
and creating quilts and wearable art using some of her drawings.

Connie teaches classes and speaks at quilting guilds throughout the United State. Take a look at what she can offer your group.

She was so excited when two of her quilts were featured in Cindy Walter’s book titled Snippet Sensation and Cindy’s Christmas Snippet book. Gallery

Connie also has a quilt titled Fiber of Slavery Strong Women Picking Cotton featured in Carolyn Mazloomi’s book titled Quilting African American Women’s History. Her quilt is on exhibit at the National Afro-American Museum and Cultural Center in Wilberforce, Ohio. Exhibition List

Connie is a fiber artist that lives in Elk Grove, California and she is married and has two sons.

ARTIST STATEMENT
My goal is to draw viewers into my art work.  I want the viewer to dig deep into their heart and soul and
come up with their own understanding of what they are seeing and feeling when they are observing my quilt.
I want the viewer to come back for a second look because they feel a strong connection to my quilt.
A connection that cuts to the heart.
